NPR: The History of Western Music Series
Listen to each of the five online audio presentation several times.  After gaining an understanding of the significant points presented in the segment complete the following activities and turn it into "The Box" in Mrs. Bice's room by the due date listed below.  The instructions apply to each of the five "parts" listed below.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT 

1. Complete a one page (front side only) synopsis of the presentation detailing significant events, composers, dates, and compositions.  The report is to be handwritten.

2. For each piece of music presented in the interview discuss and analysis the essential musical elements. 

• Part 1 - Early Music of the Church  - January 30

• Part 2 - The Class of 1685 - February 27

• Part 3 - Nationalism in Music  - March 27

• Part 4 - America Between the Wars  - April 30

• Part 5 - The 20th and 21st Centuries  - May 15
